I made this because I needed to convert a few MPEGs to IFF animations. After I got that working, I decided to add load/save of a few other formats. When that seemed to work OK I thought someone else might be able to use this so I uploaded it (my first after threating quite a few times to upload stuff). As for the #?ware clasification, it's free, do whatever you like with it.
